Soil borings are used to install vertical sampling points during subsurface investigations. Soil borings may be shallow or extend into the groundwater bearing units beneath the surface and converted into groundwater monitoring wells.
Stream GeoSciences installs soil borings and groundwater monitoring wells to identify impacts to soil and groundwater to the vertical and horizontal extent of contamination needed for delineation.
Stream GeoSciences provides various methods of groundwater sampling effective according to the site conditions, regulatory program, and other data quality objectives. Stream GeoSciences uses hand samplers, peristaltic, and submersible pumps to collect the most representative groundwater samples according to the site conditions, regulatory agency or quality control plan requirements, and site specific needs.
The purpose of groundwater sampling is to obtain an accurate, representative water sample and transfer it to the laboratory for analysis. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) have established Low Flow- Low Stress groundwater sampling guidance to set the industry standard for collection of representative groundwater samples from monitoring wells at sites contaminated with various chemicals of concern. Essentially the low flow sampling method is utilized to facilitate fresh groundwater sample collection using low flow rates without putting stress on the aquifer while measuring and recording field parameters such as pH, temperature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen and turbidity.
